  I am new to Calgary and haven't had my hair done in a salon in 5 years, but I decided to bite the bullet and went to the Eveline Charles salon in CORE to have my hair done before an important job interview. I went for a ombré refresh and Janice took me on as her last client of the day.

  Had an appointment for 1:45 spent 40 minutes waiting and finally someone came and offered to start shampooing my hair. She said "I'm just killing time". Then she left me with a wet towel on my head for 30 more minutes until the stylist was ready. When I finally got to the stylist she did the opposite of everything I asked for and kept pressuring me to do what she wanted. I told her multiple times I didn't want any special framing around my face and she guilted me into it. I told her I part my hair to the side and she proceeded to cut and style my hair with a middle part. The worst haircut and style I've ever had. I didn't want layers, a blowout or 70s styled curls but that is what I left with. I've never been so annoyed. The website said a lady's cut is $40 but they charged me $63 for wasting 2 hours of my day. Never going back.

  My hair looked lovely as a result, and Janice herself looked so much happier to see I loved it. In fact, as I left the salon, I passed a man on the street who told me how wonderful my hair looked (you literally couldn't have planned it any better). Janice was an absolute professional and I really appreciated the time and effort she put into fixing her mistake. I will absolutely being going back to her when my hair next needs doing and would recommend others to see her too.

  She worked with me to find the best possible solution to the problem and instead of trying to pass the responsibility, she fully accepted that she needed to do something different. Janice and the lovely receptionist, both stayed till well past the salon and mall were shut to make sure everything was perfect.

  This was my first time at Eveline Charles and I had the most fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, the place looked very clean and the woman who greeted me at the door was very genuine. I was booked with Richard, even if it was a last minute appointment. I was unsure of what I wanted done with my hair, considering it was my first time. However, Richard (metaphorically) held my hand through every step, explaining why he was using certain products, how he was styling it, even down to how he used the foils on my hair! I got a Balayage with a beautiful caramel tone to it. His abundant knowledge of the industry, his genuine enthusiam, and his care and passion with customers gives first timers such as myself a moment to remember indeed. Thank you, Richard! For making myself believe that I am beautiful again.

  I had Ashley today. He did an amazing job on my hair. I have a sensitive scalp, and he was a little rough on it... but I'm super happy with the results. My hair usually takes forever to cut and style....he was much faster than any other stylist I've had before, which was amazing. The salon is clean and staff are friendly. Very happy!

  Reminder as well as reality check: There are loads of other salons who do not disrespect their customers and which have basic human social skills, Eveline Charles is nothing at all and certainly nothing to have some delusioned false sense of grandeur or whatever it is about - I truly can not comprehend what is going through these peoples minds. I do not not know how they have any customers whatsoever, but they have lost my business.

  Astoundingly rude customer service. I did not even go through with my first appointment due to the unbelievably horrid service and treatment I received over the phone, from literally every person I spoke with. Preposterous really.

  Long story short, the colour didn't turn out the way I think either of us had really expected. She saw this on my face and gave me the opportunity to express my feelings about it without making me feel uncomfortable or rude (where I would have actually just gone home and cried!).
